Why does the wrong person’s photograph appear in a name search?

In brief

The wrong photograph can appear because a source mislabeled it or because a search display associated an otherwise accurate image with the wrong person. Those cases require different corrective work.

The investigation follows the image to its original page and image address. It checks captions, nearby names, alternative text, page subject, and whether the same picture appears elsewhere with reliable identification. A page featuring a speaker, interviewer, and audience member can be ambiguous even if no one intended a false attribution.

Check the result destination and image file separately, then locate other pages using the photograph. Compare each placement with an identified official portrait and public biography. Supply the wrong image address, host page, mistaken association and correct identification in the request, alongside the search screenshot.

Request a source correction when the publisher has misidentified the person. For accurate sources appearing against the wrong name, improve authoritative identity information and use the relevant search-feedback route. After a source image changes or is removed, check eligibility for a stale-result request and inspect the remaining image results.
