Why do deleted personal posts remain visible through archives, screenshots, or AI answers?
In brief
Deleting a post affects the original publication, not every copy or discussion of it. Screenshots, archives, quoted passages, and reporting can keep the statement available through separate sources.
Map the surviving versions and their influence. Check whether an AI answer uses later reporting about a deleted post, a screenshot omits its date or surrounding exchange, or the original post remains live. Address the particular source and missing context behind the current claim.
Inspect each surviving item instead of treating every reference as a cache. A page reproducing a screenshot is a live publication even if the pictured post no longer exists. A search preview containing words absent from its destination is a different issue. For an AI answer, follow any visible citations to see whether it is summarizing later reporting. Keep source removal, correction, and search-refresh actions separate in the record.
Target wrong attribution, missing context, and obsolete claims in the remaining accounts. For content that has changed or disappeared, use the search refresh route that matches the stale result. Track independent copies separately and check the research paths through which the statement still appears.
