Why can branded search results tell a different story from a brand’s website?
In brief
Branded search presents information from multiple publishers and periods, while the company website presents the company's own account. A different result-page narrative can reflect genuine independent scrutiny, a missing later resolution, outdated profiles, or a corporate site that does not answer the question behind the search.
Use the distinction between owned and independent information to understand the research experience. Compare the response a reliability query receives from a detailed review, an investigation, and the company homepage. Assess the factual support for each prominent claim separately from its search visibility.
Compare the titles, snippets, and claims people encounter with current and historical evidence. Match each issue to a clearer company explanation, documented source correction, or substantive action on an unresolved problem. Link relevant history to later developments and assess external records directly alongside the company's website.
