How should an executive’s career history refer to a company that later rebranded?

In brief

Identify the employer as it existed during the executive's service and add the current name where it helps verification. Keep the employment event and its dates distinct from a later rebrand.

The factual distinction is between a name change, acquisition, merger, and transfer of part of a business. Saying a person led today's combined company can overstate their role if that organization did not exist in that form during their tenure. Service dates and the relevant business unit clarify what the experience establishes.

A concise description can connect the names without rewriting history: the former company name, the role, and the later relationship where relevant. Current biographies and prominent external profiles should agree on those facts. This supports identity matching and accurate attribution without pretending that a corporate transaction erases or automatically transfers earlier responsibilities.
