What reputation work should accompany an incoming CEO announcement?
In brief
A CEO announcement should include accurate information about the appointment, authority, experience, and transition. New attention can otherwise turn an obsolete title or incomplete biography into the default introduction.
Before disclosure, a review can identify public sources misstating former roles or leaving relevant experience undocumented. Announcement and leadership pages should agree on effective dates, responsibilities, and interim arrangements. Earlier achievements need attribution to the executive's actual role rather than ownership of every result at a former employer.
Publish a factual reference for the transition and check prominent profiles and search descriptions for updates. Prioritize consequential errors, including authority wrongly attributed to a departing leader. Explain the announced roles and dates within approved disclosure boundaries, and track where the public record still needs correction.
