How should a brand respond when an executive faces public controversy?

In brief

An executive controversy response depends on facts, actual responsibilities, and the company's own obligations. Personal and corporate interests can overlap without being identical.

Distinguish an allegation from an established finding and identify whose conduct is under scrutiny. Give customers, employees, investors, and partners practical information about authority and continuity. Describe the organization's responsibilities and relationship to the conduct using the documented record.

Have legal, governance, operations, and communications owners establish response boundaries. Check that public descriptions preserve the relevant factual distinctions and identify spreading errors. Explain the organization's actions with evidence, and assess the underlying concern separately from leadership changes and public statements.
